St. John the Baptist Healthy Community Coalition is partnering with St. John the Baptist 4-H and Youth Development Agent Xavier Bell, St. John the Baptist 4-H Jr. Leaders and Fifth Ward 4-H Club to create colorful stencils on the playground at Fifth Ward Elementary.

The benefits of stencils on outdoor spaces are multi-faceted. Stencils promote physical activity, teamwork and basic learning skills. Weight gain and obesity among young people is alarming, about 1/3 of children are overweight, with half of them being obese.

Promoting physical activity is a great way to encourage youth to develop healthy life-style practices that will benefit their health long-term.
